Inspiration: The feeling of having energy and being vigorous and active.
Artistic Process: The first step was cutting multiple layers of different glasses with shards of glass on top in a specific pattern inside a stainless steel mold as a dam to contain the glass. Using a specific program to ramp up and hold the heat in the kiln to spread and stretch the glass to create a unique design. After coldworking the edges, I then cut an interesting complementary circle of glass of a larger diameter as the base and a circle of clear glass for the top into the kiln to create more depth in the design.
The glass stand is made of layers of clear glass fused together and then kilnformed into shape with cold working to ensure the bottom is level and sturdy.
