Sunflower Fields. I manipulated the glass at high temperatures to swirl the colors into patterns. After cold working, the glass is firepolished while adding texture. The transparent sunflowers are kiln-casted and then kiln-formed into the shape with the center bumped up and petals curled up. They are installed with stand-ups raising them above the art so that the transparent flowers reflect on the background and the stainless steel. The monarch butterflies, bee and ladybug are kilncasted then kilnformed so the wings are flying. All are installed with rare earth magnets so they are raised above the art for reflections and flying.
It is mounted with a stand-off on brushed stainless steel, wired for hanging with welded brackets to keep the artwork flat and straight on the wall with no tilting. The installation of the sunflowers and butterfly with rare earth magnets additionally makes it easier to ship and install.
