Glass art sculpture of hibiscus, butterflies, bee, ladybugs and a caterpillar.
Artistic Process: Kiln-casted monarch butterflies, red and purple hibiscus flowers, ladybugs, bee and caterpillar are installed with either rare-earth magnets or stand-offs made for glass installations.
For the background, I designed the colors and structure of the glass and then manipulated the glass at high temperatures to swirl the colors into patterns. After cold working, the glass is fire polished in the kiln while adding texture in the center.
The glass stand is kilnformed into a shape to support the sculpture with coldworking to ensure the bottom is level and sturdy.
Dimensions: 15" wide x 17" tall x 3.5" deep
