Frolicking among the Hot Patterned Blooms
Artistic Process: The Kilnfired glass background was designed with multiple green then manipulated the glass at high temperatures to swirl the greens into patterns. After cold working the edges, I created the butterfly in the middle with glass powders and a combing technique. I separately created pattern bars using a technique to flow and manipulate the glass into patterns very thick, then sliced the patterned glass with a tile saw. The flower petals are matched slices of this pattern bar formed to shape. The combed butterfly and patterned petals were tack fused to the background.
The 3D butterflies, ladybug and bee were kiln-casted and are installed with rare earth magnets and nesting standoffs, giving you an option to exchange butterflies and easier to ship, move and install. What do you think of the reflections on the glass and on the wall?
The artwork is mounted on brushed stainless steel, wired for hanging with welded brackets to keep the artwork flat and straight on the wall with no tilting.
Dimensions: 14" wide x 15" tall x 3.5" deep
