Inspiration: Honey Bees are essential pollinators of food crop and wild plants and they produce Honey. My inspiration came from watching the bees gathering pollen, talking bees and honey production with a couple of friends who have bees and gather honey.
Artistic Process: For the background, I melted sunflower opal glass in a stainless steel hexagon shaped form. The edges were then coldworked to ensure smooth and straight. amber drips of honey and bees were added and fired to fuse together and leave texture.
The stand is made of multiple layers of glass cut into a shape to fit the overall design. I made amber glass "pebbles" and added them the stand to create drops of honey.
