Sparkling Windows 2

Inspiration:  Sparkling mix of colors, windows and putting together puzzles.

Artistic Process: A mosaic of various dichroic glass are carefully put together on a background of black glass.  This is fused in a large sheet dam, then the fused mosaic was cut into diamond shapes of various sizes for the windows in the design using a tile saw.  squiggle and straight shapes were cut from dichroic glass to highlight the design.  These component were tack fired to a base black glass in rectangle shape.   

The artwork is mounted on brushed stainless steel, wired for hanging with welded brackets to keep the artwork flat and straight on the wall with no tilting.

This looks great on the wall by itself or as a diptych, displayed next to Sparkling Windows 1 which was designed and made at the same time. 

Dimensions:  8" wide x 12"tall x 1.5" deep

• Dichroic glass - Thin layers of metallic oxides, such as titanium, silicon, and magnesium are deposited upon the surface of the glass in a high temperature, vacuum furnace. This creates a brilliant coating on the glass that displays more than one color, especially when viewed from different angles.
