Underwater Fantasy

Inspiration: the sparkling colors and movement under the sea. 

Artistic Process: The background is black and then is layered with colored and  dichroic glass in varying depth under clear glass.  

The glass stand is kilnformed into a shape including a slot to support the sculpture with coldworking to ensure the bottom is level and sturdy. 

Dimensions:  12.5" wide x 14"tall x 3.5" deep

• Dichroic glass - Thin layers of metallic oxides, such as titanium, silicon, and magnesium are deposited upon the surface of the glass in a high temperature, vacuum furnace. This creates a brilliant coating on the glass that displays more than one color, especially when viewed from different angles.
