Red Hot Poker
This sculpture is named for red hot poker flowers. I designed the colors and structure of the glass and then manipulated the glass at high temperatures to swirl the colors into patterns. The glass was then cut with a ring saw into a bloom shape and after additional cold working, the glass was firepolished.
The glass stand has red bits fused into the clear glass and is kilnformed into a shape to support the sculpture with coldworking to ensure the bottom is level and sturdy.
