Red and Black Swirls and Patterns Rimmed Vase

With swirls and patterns of black and red throughout the design,  this vibrant vase will be a beautiful addition to any home décor.  

This vase makes a special, unique, artisan made gift.  

The artistic process:  I started by making thick pattern bars of red, black and clear then cutting up the bars.  I then combine these components with more black and red glass in a round dam to contain the glass and fired in the kiln to a full fuse.  That piece is placed on a round ring mold with a "hole" in the center that is elevated above the kiln floor.  The kiln is programmed to heat to certain temperatures where I watch as the glass slowly drops through the inside of the rim until it touches the the kiln floor, I then flash cool to annealing temperatures.
