"Eddie Van Halen" 6" Guitar Sculpture

A guitar with similarities to an Eddie Van Halen Guitar iconic series design.

Artistic Process:   After making the glass, I make the pattern/stencil at the appropriate size needed using a couple of different apps and sometimes a Cricut to cut the stencil. I trace the pattern onto the glass with a waterproof marker. Then I cut the design shape out on a ring saw with a mega diamond blade. Next step is to grind all the edges smooth and soak the glass in a vinegar/water mix - this is to clean the saw/grind so that the glass turns out shiny when its firepolished in the kiln. I make a stand to be fired in the same firing as the firepolish. Then its assembly time -- first adding "knobs". then its roughing the parts that will be assembled together, using a special epoxy and a lot of blue painters tape and props to make sure its straight.
