Reds and Black Music Note Sculpture

Description: Colorful Music Note Sculpture 

Artistic Process: The glass design was made by combining black and different shades of red into patterns then fired in the kiln, then the music note was cut out of this glass with a ring saw.  I ground all the edges smooth and then it was fire polished in the kiln.  The music note is epoxied to a stand that was made by cutting three pieces for varying sizes and tack fusing them into the stand. 

Inspiration: Making music notes was inspired while I was playing the piano.  I was learning a new piece that was complex for me.  The music notes were staring back at me.  All of a sudden, I started thinking about the concept of a music note sculpture.  I immediately went to my studio to test out the idea and continue to refine the design as well as creating various color patterns.
