Kilnfired glass art - abstract of a waterfall. Inspired while hiking and admiring a large waterfall. The power and beauty of waterfalls and they are mesmerizing to watch.
How it was made: A background of abstract greens was cut into a diamond shape and then put into a stainless steel former lined with fiber paper. Steel Rods were put on top with kiln furniture. I then cut and designed a pattern of blue glasses in a stack on top of the rods. The kiln was programmed for a specific ramp up to higher temperatures so that the glass flowed throught the steel rods onto the green background. I then opened the kiln at top tempertature and manipulated the blue glass to add additional swirls to achieve the design. The edges were coldworked extensively to achieve crisp edges for the diamond.
It is mounted on brushed stainless steel, wired for hanging with welded brackets to keep the artwork flat and straight on the wall with no tilting.
Dimensions: 17" wide x 20" deep
