Inspiration: I love vibrant colors and the colors of the rainbow - I wanted to swirl them together as a challenge.
Artistic Process: Kilnfired wall art I designed the colors and structure of the glass and then manipulated the glass at high temperatures to swirl the colors into patterns. I challenged myself to swirl all the colors of the rainbow and avoid getting "mud" - some colors of glass are copper based and some are sulfur based and they can react to each other and create an ugly mud. After cold working, the glass is firepolished while adding texture.
It is mounted on brushed stainless steel, wired for hanging with welded brackets to keep the artwork flat and straight on the wall with no tilting.
