Inspiration: Watching the hummingbirds return to our garden and feeder and my love of abstract art. I made this artwork with an empty center and was waiting for inspiration to finish the center. I finally had the inspiration to finish it.
The casted hummingbird is installed with a rare earth magnet -- this means that the owner could switch out the center with other art for the center -- maybe for different seasons or occasions if desired.
Artistic Process: Lots of glass cutting, kiln firing and more. The hummingbird is kiln-casted. A rare earth magnet was epoxied to the back of the hummingbird and the center of the artwork. Behind the art is a stainless steel mount with welded brackets and wired for hanging.
Dimensions: 12.5 wide x 18" tall x 4" deep
