Inspiration: Floral Inspired Mandala is inspired by mandalas and adult coloring books that help you relax by focusing on all the details.
Artistic Process: The outline of the design was "drawn" on a sheet of glass with glass enamel -- this is a time consuming process as its a liquid you squeeze from a jar, after it is dry, I scraped any excess from the lines. I think used glass ground to a fine size (not powder) and applied it to each area, keeping it in place with a liquid glue that burns off in the kiln - it needs to be very thick to ensure I have enough volume to fire hot. Once all the colored glass is done in the design, it was fired to a full fuse. Then I applied " dots and other details with glass enamel (mostly yellow) and fired for a final time. This shows depth and interest through the whole design.
The artwork is framed and wired for hanging.
