This vase has patterns of glass cane in several shades of green, purple, blue, and orange along with a lacy rim of the same colors.
It will be a beautiful and unique addition to any home décor. It also makes a special, unique, artisan made gift.
The artistic process: I started by making cane by making the color patterned design in a deep stainless steel container and put in my kiln that raises up with a kiln floor that has a hole in the floor. As the kiln heats, the glass flows through the hole in the kiln floor. As it flows, I pull the glass to make a certain size cylinder cane and Vitrigraph. After the cane cool. I cut it into 3/8" or so pieces and then design into patterns and fire them into artwork. After the first design, I decided the back of the glass need more interest and added a glass full of swirls of green, orange and white and fired to the bottom and fired to thin the glass a bit as well. I then added ground glass along the edges and fired to a tack fuse to create the lacy rim. The final step was to drape the glass over a stainless steel cone shape to create this unique shaped vase. This requires precision placement and opening the kiln once it hits a certain temperature to watch the progress and flashing cooling once its draped the way I want.
